Saltram Mamre Brook Shiraz 2023

$30.00

While it’s a hefty 14.5% alcohol, this Barossa shiraz reveals the restrained and approachability you see from the cooler seasons. Its aromas and flavours of cassis, blackberries, dark plums and blueberries knit tightly with cedary, chocolatey oak, while its soft, round and slightly warm palate is framed by a gentle cut of pliant tannins. It’s no fruit bomb, and neither does it finish sweet. Instead, it’s a pleasing, generous and approachable Barossa shiraz for those who enjoy the species but don’t fancy being whacked by it.

Winery

In any other wine folio than that of Treasury Wine Estates, Saltram would be a high-profile star in the Barossa sky. The reality is that the halo effect of brands like Penfolds and Wolf Blass have made it more difficult than usual for Saltram's classic red collection to capture justifiable attention and airspace. Saltram's collection offers great regional quality, some excellent and very consistent winemaking and is usually very well priced, the Mamre Brook wines in particular.
